Fight Trump’s Attacks on the Antiwar Movement

This week, the House Ways and Means Committee, in conjunction with Trump officials, have subpoenaed The Peoples Forum, BreakThrough News, and Tricontinental: Institute for Social Research for financial records, internal communications, and organizational records. The National Lawyers Guild (NLG), CODEPINK, the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), the Venceremos Brigade, and IFCO/Pastors for Peace are also … Read more →

Kshama Sawant Endorses Andre Easton and Justin Filip for Congress

I am proud to endorse my fellow independent candidates Andre Easton, and Justin Filip, who are also running for Congress this year.

Like my campaign, both candidates are clearly opposing the apartheid state of Israel, campaigning to end the genocide in Gaza, and calling for an end to all military aid to Israel. Both are calling for universal public healthcare and taxes on the rich.

Most importantly, they are running independent of the two most powerful parties of global capitalism: the warmongering billionaire-backed Democratic and Republican parties.

Happy Juneteenth! End the War on Black People!

Today is Juneteenth, the day we celebrate the end of the Civil War and the smashing of slavery, one of the most brutally oppressive systems the world has ever known. American capitalism was built on the exploitation of enslaved Black people and the genocide of indigenous peoples. The horrors of slavery, Jim Crow segregation, and the ongoing exploitation of Black working people have provided unimaginable wealth for a tiny elite, while impoverishing generations of Black Americans and their communities.

The end of slavery was not won by the voices of “moderation,” who at the time argued for a kinder, gentler form of slavery and for a process of gradual change, and who derided abolitionists as divisive and uncouth people. This victory did not belong to those who attached themselves to the two parties of American capitalism, at that time the Whig Party and the Democratic Party, both of which defended the system of slavery. It did not belong to the Uncle Toms of the day. Instead, it belonged to the Black, brown and white troops who courageously fought and defeated the slave-owning class on the battlefields. And yes, it was a multi-racial struggle that succeeded in crushing the white slaveholders.

Shut Down Delaney Hall and All ICE Detention Centers!

I stand in solidarity with the at least 300 detainees who are on a courageous labor and hunger strike at the notorious immigrant detention center, Delaney Hall in New Jersey! I also stand with the anti-ICE protestors in solidarity with the detainees and who are facing off against the full weight of ICE, the NJ state police, and the Democratic Party politicians who run the state. Democratic Governor Mikie Sherrill sent in cops in riot gear and on horseback who teargassed the protesters.

Kshama is the only consistent antiwar, pro-worker candidate in this race

There are now two Democrats and one Republican running against socialist Kshama Sawant in the Congressional District 9 race for Washington state.

Kshama is the only consistent antiwar, pro-worker candidate in this race. She is the only candidate in the race with a track record of defeating billionaires and winning working-class victories.

Democrat #1 is incumbent Adam Smith, who has spent his nearly three decades in office openly promoting endless war and being bankrolled by the weapons industry, AIPAC, and Big Tech executives. Smith has voted repeatedly to fund the genocide in Gaza and to block United Nations food aid to Gaza. He voted in December of 2025 to give Trump $906 billion for war — money that Trump has been using for the war on Iran and to fund Israel’s assault on Lebanon. Smith has voted to create and fund ICE. He also voted to slash Medicare and Medicaid funding by hundreds of billions of dollars. Adam Smith needs to go!

I am endorsing Butch Ware for Governor of California!

Butch Ware is running independent from the Democratic and Republican parties as a Green Party candidate. He is calling for a universal, single-payer healthcare system, CalCare, free at the point of use for every Californian. His campaign is also fighting for free public higher education in the state and canceling state-held student debt.

Butch Ware is demanding that ICE detention centers on state contracts be closed, all state cooperation with ICE be ended, and that all residents be given access to social programs regardless of immigration or citizenship status. He is calling for a statewide $25/hour minimum wage and for a publicly owned energy grid built by unionized public-sector workers. Butch is calling for California’s $800 billion+ in public pension funds to be divested from weapons manufacturers and corporations tied to war crimes.

Fight for Trans Rights and Safety for all LGBTQ+ People

Solidarity With Everyone Mourning the Loss of Juniper Blessing

I stand in solidarity with the family and friends of University of Washington student Juniper Blessing. Condolences to all those mourning the loss of Juniper, who was brutally murdered recently in Seattle, while simply doing laundry. While the killer’s motivations remain unclear,  this horrific act of violence is still another reminder of the dangerous reality facing LGBTQ+ people everywhere, even in a supposed sanctuary city like Seattle. It needs to serve as a call to action to renewedly fight for justice for all our trans and queer siblings.

We need to build mass movements of working people to fight back against the right-wing, anti-trans attacks, and to defeat the anti-trans bills being advanced around the country.

Statement on a reckless Super PAC

Yesterday a Super PAC called “Movement for Kshama” announced that they are gathering signatures “to get Kshama on the ballot.”

By law, Super PACS are not allowed to coordinate with elections campaigns, nor are they allowed to make in-kind contributions. For this reason, the gathering of ballot signatures by a Super PAC, and the submission of any of those signatures, creates a serious legal risk for our campaign.

This irresponsible decision by the leaders of this Super PAC forces us to clarify some things publicly: the Kshama for Congress campaign did not ask this Super PAC to gather ballot signatures; our campaign has not coordinated with them regarding this or any other activity; our campaign will not accept contributions from this or any other Super PAC.

Oracle Layoffs Show Why Tech Workers Should Fight to Elect Kshama to Congress

Thank you to everyone who joined us at the Tech Workers for Kshama national meeting. The energy was incredible, and we’re just getting started. During our discussion, one tech worker asked a question that I think is on every tech worker’s mind right now: how do we fight against the mass layoffs happening in the tech sector?

Barely 24 hours after our meeting, we saw exactly why this matters: on March 31st, between 20,000 and 30,000 Oracle workers, roughly 18% of the company’s global workforce, woke up to a cold five-line email from “Oracle Leadership” at 6am. No phone call. No meeting with HR. No warning from their managers. Just a message telling them their roles had been eliminated, that today was their last working day, and that their access to company systems had already been cut.
