Kshama Sawant Re-Election Campaign

Community Forum at City Hall for Teacher’s Strike Captures Fighting Spirit of Teachers and Community!

SEApublicforum.jpgOver 150 teachers, students, parents, and neighbors packed into the Seattle City Council Chambers to attend a community meeting called by Councilmember Kshama Sawant and sponsored by the Coalition for the Schools Seattle Deserves to discuss why Seattle educators are on strike and strategies to win.

Watch video of the event here.

A key question asked was how can we activate the strong community support the educators have, to help push back against the articles attacking teachers from The Seattle Times.

We agree it’s important to build support in the community. Over the past week our campaign supporters and staff have joined educators on the picket lines to show our support.

This weekend we’ll be doorknocking and postering to build support for the election campaign and for the strike.

Join us as we talk with our neighbors about why the teachers are on strike and how we can support them.  We’ll be at Pratt Park at 10 AM on Saturday for the Volunteer Kick Off and at 126 10th Ave E at 10 AM on Sunday.
